EKF PROxima KME contactors consist of a housing with fixed contacts secured inside and movable contacts secured in the movable part of the magnetic system. The fixed part of the magnetic system is rigidly fixed in the KME housing. A spring prevents contact closure. When voltage is applied to the control coil, a magnetic field arises in the contactor's magnetic system, which overcomes the spring resistance, closes the magnetic system, and closes the contacts. When voltage is removed from the control coil, the spring opens the contacts. They can switch aluminum and copper wires. The main purpose of the KME contactor is frequent remote switching on and off of power electrical circuits under normal operating conditions.
